We live in a flood zone and there are openings in our foundation that allow water to flow through the ground floor instead of building up pressure and collapsing the foundation. When we are not at risk of flooding, I seal up the openings using Styrofoam panels to prevent cold air, wind, animals and bugs from entering. I used these tension rods to hold the Styrofoam panels in place so wind did not blow them in. The rods are sturdy and secure, and I could adjust the tension to hold the panels firmly in place against wind but loose enough that water pressure would still push them in if we aren't here to remove the panels in a storm.The quality and finish is also excellent.
